Greetings to all on this Good Friday.
As of today, I even more highly recommend the excellent book, A Continual Feast by Evelyn Birge Vitz. The book is "a cookbook to celebrate the joys of family and faith throughout the Christian year", and has recipes, histories and celebration suggestions for everyday, feast days, and holidays. It should be in every family library. Thanks, Mrs. M., for ours! Here are the "Good Friday buns from England":

"Good Friday comes this month, the old woman runs
With one or two a penny hot cross buns,
Whose virtue is, if you believe what's said,
They'll not grow mouldy like the common bread."
